I love Christmas! The lights, decorations, parties...but my favorite part is the opportunity to help others, especially seniors who are in need, and to bring a bit of joy into their lives. Last week we worked with Meals on Wheels of Denton County to help raise donations for their Senior Paws program... or "Santa Paws" as we called it. Seniors receiving Meals on Wheels are typically on limited incomes, and many have furry companions - dogs or cats. There is a need for dog/cat food, treats, toys, dog beds, etc. so we decided to host two fundraisers last week. People were so generous dropping off donations, as well as giving monetary donations. Our team also decided to spread joy at a local Assisted Living community by entering their Festival of Trees contest. We went with a Blue Christmas tree, and decked our tree out in as much bling as we could find! Also, we added special custom made ornaments with each team mates name engraved. We hope the residents of the Assisted Living will enjoy seeing our sparkly, blue tree throughout the holidays.
As you can imagine, our team stays very busy serving our seniors, but we did manage to take a break to meet for our own team Christmas party and gift exchange at a delicious Mexican restaurant, Mi Dia in Grapevine. It was so much fun to all be together to celebrate. I'm so thankful for these incredible ladies!
Be on the lookout for more pictures coming soon...we are caroling with a group of our senior living friends next week, and believe me, we are all a bit EXTRA. That's all I can say, you will just have to wait for the pictures!
I hope you are enjoying the holiday season and finding ways to spread Christmas Joy!
